The McHenry Garden Club hosted it’s Summer program at the McHenry Library on July 7, 2011, with the Children’s program on the life cycle of the butterfly and it’s favorite meals. Joyce Matuszewich, member and Master Gardner, explained the process of Metamorphosis showing the four stages in the life of an insect’s cycle. Children planted milk weed seeds, zinnia, dill, and a snapdragon flower to take home. Jane Thomas illustrated the parts of the butterfly and guided the children’s drawings in their art work to take home. Assisting with the project was librarian and member, Sharon Borland, along with members Marita Sension, Dorothy Kowalczyk, Pat Schafer, and Jean Schiller.
